Design of HCI Interface for the TRESLRead MoreApplication of Telepresence Robots in Remote MedicineThis project aims to address the need of specialized medical care in remote communities. Currently, patients must wait until they are transported to larger general hospitals before they can see medical specialists for serious medical concerns. With the application of telepresence robots, the specialists will be able to assess and see the patient, allowing them to provide care and recommendations to nurses without having to physicially be present.VR/AR/MR in TRESLThis project aims to use advanced VR/AR/MR technologies on TRESL to create the VR/AR/MR based Human-Computer Interaction in a virtual smart lab. The HCI enables users to drive and maniplate the visulized virtual robots in the vritual lab and also simultaneously control the real robot in the smart laboratory. Furthermore, the virtualized robots and lab environment also provide a visulized simulation platform for testing the algorithms developed for robot navigation and manipulation.Read MoreProgressive Cybernetics Decentralized Autonomous Organization(DAO)The PCDAO aims to encourage keeping openness of digital solutions high as a form of reputation scoring that encourages autonomous collaboration and sharing of digital assets among contributors to digital asset campaigns as a means of trading and exchanging digital assets and information technology services.
This project is to research the potential of a Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO) to facilitate crowdsourcing, pooling of objectives and resources based on shared desires across multi-disciplinary industries including civic, distance education and academic programs.
The PCDAO aims to encourage keeping openness of digital solutions high as a form of reputation scoring that encourages autonomous collaboration and sharing of digital assets among contributors to digital asset campaigns as a means of trading and exchanging digital assets and information technology services.
The Progressive Cybernetics DAO will serve as a crowdsourced point of origin for a digital assets library, initially focused on civic and academic industries. The impact and significance include economic stimulation by mobilizing, commercializing and monetizing digital assets, including services trade (exchange) between municipal and academic organizations. The project will contribute a novel system and operating model that enables decentralized cooperationbetween organizations.
Telepresence Robot Empowered Smart Labs (TRESL) Program is being researched as a primary example of an initiative that can benefit from a mechanism like the PCDAO. Many universities have invested in Tele-presence, Robotics and Smart Labs concepts and digital assets, and a plethora of equipment inventory exists that can be energized with proper synthesis and orchestration of these distributed assets. The PCDAO can contribute to TRESL in several ways. Firstly, it can serve as mechanism to identify partners and collaborators to achieve the program’s objectives, including institutions with shared desires, both academic and commercia/private industry partners. Secondly, TRESL as a service, can benefit (municipal) communities, especially rural communities, with smart lab capabilities and access to equipment remotely that would have been otherwise extremely expensive to implement locally. Also, the PCDAO can help crowdsource and orchestrate remote lab work and experiments between distributed students.
At the same time the interface has to be adaptable to accommodate a variety of robots designed for different kinds of lab work.
